    Julie Abouchar, B.Sc. (Hons.), LL.B., B.C.L., LL.M., is a Partner at Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers LLP and Certified as an Indigenous Legal Issues Specialist and an Environmental Law Specialist by the Law Society of Ontario. Julie is a recognized expert in environmental, Indigenous, energy and natural resources law.

    Julie has special expertise in water and wastewater regulation and compliance, contaminated land, environmental assessment and risk management, and transactional due diligence. She served as Assistant Commission Counsel at the Walkerton Inquiry, was Legal Advisor to the Expert Panel on Regulating Safe Drinking Water on First Nations commissioned by the Assembly of First Nations in association with the Government of Canada. Julie is a member of the CTC Source Protection Committee for the greater Toronto watershed and served as a Director of the Ontario Clean Water Agency. Julie is co-author of Ontario Water Law, published by Canada Law Book.

    Julie has a substantial Indigenous legal issues practice working with industry and First Nation clients. She provides advice on the duty to consult and negotiates and drafts consultation and benefit agreements for major resource and infrastructure projects
